Tourist Info

Situated on the picturesque Suffolk coast and with miles of clear, sandy beaches, Lowestoft along with nearby Great Yarmouth are traditionally associated with the quintessential Great British holiday.

Whilst its fishing industry has declined in recent decades, Lowestoft remains a bustling tourist town, and is a centre for the renewable energy industry. Boasting two piers, many guest houses and an immaculate beach, the town has been a tourist haven since the 18th Century, with the sea air clearly doing wonders for its visitors over the past few hundred years.

There's more to this ferry port than just its beach though, and whilst there's an array of watersports to enjoy, there's also a range of attractions and amenities to experience within the town itself. From Lowestoft Museum, housing displays of Lowestoft porcelain, to the lighthouse and Grade I listed church, there's plenty on offer in the way of culture for those who are willing to explore.

The town also boasts a great selection of cafes, restaurants, pubs and retail parks, meaning that there's always something to do even when you're not enjoying what the beach has to offer. With the town of Norwich only a stone's throw away and the historic town of Bury St Edmunds within easy reach, Lowestoft is also an ideal base from which to explore the rest of East Anglia, including Cromer or the busy port of Felixstowe.
