  • "A very comfortable and relaxing hotel in this lovely area, ideal as a base. Our room was very comfortable and clean, a bit dated, but not a problem. Breakfast was cooked to perfection. All the staff are friendly, kind and helpful. Do not expect the Ritz but do expect comfort. We enjoyed our stay very much and are likely to return. " Jenny Marsh Jenny Marsh

  • "Whitmoor House was a lovely B&B within walking distance to the many shops of Lyndhurst. It also has off street parking making it ideal for a saunter into town and back, provided you don't buy too much. Jayne and David were both friendly and welcoming and able to offer advice on places to eat and drink. Fresh flowers in your room are always better than a fake display of some sort and show that the owners are happy to add a few extra touches to make your stay. We had only booked for 2 nights as October weather can be a bit hit or miss, as it turned out it was lovely and we wished we'd booked for longer. Guess we'll just have to make a return visit." • "Jam delightful was our experience of our stay at the Acorns of Lyndhurst. The room was more than ample for the 2 nights we were staying in the capital of the New Forest. The bathroom had a shower with great pressure and plenty of nice warm water. Superb breakfasts and plenty of homemade jams and marmalade to choose from. Lyndhurst can be a bit of a tourist trap at times, so plan your journey in and out to avoid to much hassle going around the main one-way road system. Once you've arrived, you'll be glad you did, the owners make you feel at home from the moment you arrive." Nick B, Chrissy C Nick B, Chrissy C

  • "It's nice to know that there are still B&B's out there that offer one night stays, even at the weekend. Little Hayes a few minutes North of the town centre offered just that and split our journey up nicely. Stefan & Wendy were both wonderful hosts, making sure we were made to feel at home. Our room had a King sized bed, which was just perfect and a god sized bathroom with a shower. There was plenty of cereal or salmon & eggs for breakfast, but as usual I went for the full breakfast. Having come the scenic route through the New Forest I ended up doing a circuit of Lyndhurst, So would come off at Cadnam on the A31 next time for a more direct route." N Pascal N Pascal

Tourist Info

Set in the heart of the New Forest National Park, and only a short distance away from Southampton, Christchurch and Lymington on the Hampshire coast, Lyndhurst is known for looking after its visitors in style, as well as providing everyone who discovers this Hampshire gem with plenty to see and plenty to do.

The ideal springboard for anyone who loves outdoor sports to explore the New Forest, so whether it's camping, hiking, cycling or discovering the local wildlife from Dartford Warblers to Southern Damselflies, deer and even snakes, the surrounding region is bursting with things to see all year round. Indeed this is one of the many reasons why the village is renowned amongst the Scouting and Girl Guiding movements, with many international events and jamborees having taken place here over the years.Lyndhurst itself is home to numerous independent cafes, restaurants, shops, art galleries and pubs, with plenty of high street names represented too.

Lyndhurst was listed in the Domesday Book, and so also has plenty of history on which to draw upon. From the Queen's House and Church of St Michael and All Angels to the resting place of Alice Hargreaves, inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Authentic thatched houses can also be found if you know where to look.
