  • "We had a good couple of nights at Hatters and got exactly what we were expecting for the money. Staff are great, friendly and helpful. We were in a dorm, basic, clean linens etc., beds not the most comfortable I have slept in. Showers are dated but clean. The location is good and close to public transport." Mandy Jay Mandy Jay

Lots of coffee shops & cafes within a few minutes walk so eating off premisses not a problem." Jill Jill

About Manchester

The city is one of the major cities in the UK, and is arguably most famous for being home to two top-flight Premier League football teams, Manchester United and Manchester City. The attractive Pennine Hills can be found just to the north and the east of the city, and the Cheshire Plain lies in the south. After London and Edinburgh, The City is the third most visited city in the UK due to its many attractions, modern infrastructure and beautiful architecture.

No trip to here is complete without taking a tour around Old Trafford, where United play their home games. Those who are not football fans will take pleasure in visiting the many famous buildings in the city including the Beetham Tower, the CIS Tower and te iconic Town Hall. Chorlton Water Park, Clayton Vale and Highfield Country Park are perfect for anyone looking to explore some natural parklands.

This city is famous for its sporting connections around the world and visitors can enjoy watching a football game at either Man United's Old Trafford or at the City of Manchester Stadium, where 'City' can be seen. As well as football, the 2013 Ashes cricket event will visit the city as well as the Rugby League World Cup and the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

In the 19th century, Manchester was well-known for its manufacturing roots and much of today's industry in the city is service based. Many companies with a large national and international reach are based within the cities boundaries and the city is the educational, cultural and commercial focal point for the north-west of England.
