About Brighton

Painfully pretty, fantastically fashionable and delightfully diverse, Brighton serves up a cross-section of the true 'British' experience, all crammed into the neatest of little packages. Along with arguably the best beach scene in the UK, visitors are just a short hop away from a wonderful Royal Palace, stunning museums and high-end shopping opportunities. Top all this off with being just 45 minutes from Central London and it isn't difficult to understand the magnetic charm of this traditional English sea-side town.

A short stroll around the town's centre is enough to see over 400 years of history coming to life right before your eyes. King George IV's Royal Pavilion is an astonishing and unique structure that you either love or hate, and has even made it into popular culture, referred to as the 'beach hut' in an episode of the BBC comedy Blackadder. Further along the front, Brighton's legendary Palace Pier is one of the most compelling you'll ever see, and every inch the archetypal British seaside pier. If, however, you want to escape the crowds then head to The Lanes - a warren of tiny passageways that house dozens of fascinating independent shops and ultra-cool cafes.

Brighton also attracts an array of carnivals, car rallies and quite a bit of good-natured chaos from its student masses every year, though never loses the old-world English charm that made it so popular with the Victorians. If your're taking the vintage car along, book yourself a cheap overnight hotel and enjoy the full spectacle

Dining options are practically endless and encompass almost every food and drink on the planet, but if you take any trip to such a quintessentially British seaside resorts and fail to eat your bodyweight in fish n' chips, shame on you!
