Tourist Info

Torquay, nicknamed the English Riviera, is an excellent destination for those seeking sun, sea and sand. Its warm sandy beaches, lined with exotic palms, coupled with a pulsating nightlife, unique attractions and a rich sporting tradition make it an irresistible destination for many. Popular attractions in the area include Kents Cavern, home to the oldest remains of prehistoric man and beast in Europe. There is also the Agatha Christie Mile, named in honour of the famous author who lived most of her life in the town.

Nature lovers will enjoy the cities Living Coasts on Beacon Quay, with its fascinating exhibits of both marine birds and animals, including Octopus Odyssey, Fur Seal Cove and Penguin Beach. Visitors can also take in the scenic coast by steam train and river boat excursions that extend from the neighbouring seaside town of Paignton, through picturesque villages, such as Dittisham and Kingswear near the port of Dartmouth.

Family Rooms

Up until the 19th century and just like neighbouring town of Brixham, Torquay was principally an agricultural and fishing town. However, it later developed into the seaside resort it is today and its economy is now largely dependent on tourism.
