My wife and I had the most amazing stay at Ellen House. It’s perfectly located in the heart of Matlock. The rooms are of a very high standard and immaculately clean. John and Ann were lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was out of this world cooked with good quality ingredients and lots to choose from. more

Ziz was the perfect host at Sheriff Lodge, in a great location for exploring Matlock. Gorgeous room with a good bed, excellent shower, lots of toiletries and good refreshments. Beautiful cooked breakfast with the best poached eggs, homemade breads and jams! We would love to return. more

On a steep hill with excellent views over Matlock, quiet and comfortable. Perfect for walkers about half an hour into town, but a handy pub a short walk away for the less keen walker. Our room was well decorated and presented, breakfast had good choices and came with good portion sizes. Very good value for money. more

A lovely, old house with fabulous gardens in a picturesque and peaceful area. There are a couple of pubs within easy walking distance. After a friendly welcome we were shown to our room which was very comfortable and tasteful. Breakfast next morning was well cooked and presented. A relaxing and comfortable B&B. Recommended. more

An attractive looking building, we had a nice welcome and shown to our room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. After settling in we went down to the bar and restaurant where there was a log fire and we enjoyed a nice meal and drinks. At breakfast there was a good choice although we opted for a light choice. Only an overnight stay but we would certainly stay again, the service was good, staff friendly. more

A pub with rooms in nice surroundings, close to Bakewell, Chatsworth & Peak District. Our room was very clean and comfortable, nicely furnished and decorated but no toiletries supplied. We were disappointed to find no comfortable seating areas to relax in, the only seating appeared to be in the dining area. Food was enjoyable in the evening and at breakfast. Staff were friendly even when busy. A nice place for a short stay but not comfortable or relaxing enough for a long one. more

Stayed here with a group of friends. The B&B itself was spotless and the rooms were very nice and the owner and the staff were great. Just a 5 minute walk to Matlock Bath. Breakfast was delicious and there was even the option to have gluten free. more

    Nicely located close to restaurants, shops etc. Our room was spacious and comfortable with all amenities plus lovely white towels in the shower room. Breakfast is pre-ordered from a good menu but also you can pick and choose exactly what you want. The products used are very good quality and we had no complaints at all.     The Temple

    A lovely old building, full of character including creaky floors. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable plus the view from the window was amazing. Not usually a pie eater I can heartily recommend 'pie night. We also enjoyed a couple of drinks in the friendly bar. Breakfast was excellent as well.     A lovely Guest House, well decorated throughout, in beautiful grounds and overlooking the steam railway, just off the main A6 but hardly any road noise and in a great location in Matlock for visiting Chatsworth and other attractions. Very professionally run but with a personal touch, the owner provides good evening meals on request at very good value. Breakfast which is included is also very good.     Upmost in relaxation. Great relaxing room and views to match, The landlady Fay was so friendly we felt as if we had known her for ages. The breakfast was of the highest quality and served up in a relaxing atmosphere with the open plan kitchen on the first floor living area - which in it's own right was breath-taking. Arrival & departure times were really flexible which made for a much more enjoyable stay than you find with other larger less informal bed and breakfast. A+. show more
