  • "Sometimes when a hotel is under refurbishment it is best to stay well away, others it's a bargain place to book. The Cumbria Grange is the latter, book and upgrade to a room with a sea view and balcony and the sparse encounters with the polite builders in the mornings before you leave for the day out will be left behind. The hotel staff are wonderful and so to is the breakfast. Excellent grounds and great views over to Arnside & Silverdale, plus the lovely Morecombe Bay, a great time to book." • "So many beautiful views. Really impressed with the location - it’s handily situated next to the Grange Over Sands and Morecambe Bay, with the beach a short walk away. The grounds are very scenic and it’s the kind of place you can escape from it all and unwind in gorgeous surroundings. " maureen maureen

  • "A magical place to be on New Years Eve. Netherwood did it again this year, maybe even surpassing the previous year. There was afternoon tea in front of log fires, Champagne and canapés, plenty of food and of course dancing. Then it was off to sleep it all off in our wonderfully large rooms, a good job we were staying for 2 nights as we didn't get back till the early hours. Breakfast had been moved sensibly to a brunch and a Hot Toddy was more than welcome after the mornings walk. The staff were superb and the spa a great place to spend the following evening." • "By chance we got a recently refurbished room whilst our friends got one that was yet to be updated. Staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was good and the pool fantastic. We had some good walks along the Bay path, but for your evening meal you may have to take a 10 minute drive. Can recommend the Derby Arms soup and Sandwich or the Ale pie, its in Witherslack a little back up off the A590." Stevie W Stevie W

  • "Karen and Peter were brilliant hosts at Corner Beech, in a fantastic location for exploring the Lake District and all the attractions. After a warm welcome we were shown to a striking room with a large bed, modern bathroom, and good quality toiletries and refreshments. The breakfast was the best we have ever had. DVDs are available if you fancy a night in after all the walking. We will absolutely be back!" Carly Carly

  • "Full marks for fresh milk everyday in your room. We had experienced so many B&B's offering only UHT throughout our stay here. It is such a simple thing, but makes a huge difference to us guests. The Decor of the room at Birchleigh may not have been to my liking, but it was of a good modern design and standard - the shower was perfect. Breakfast was one the best we'd also had in a while. This B&B was also close to the Morecambe bay coastline and also to the Lake Windermere part of the Lake District, with great welcoming hosts. Well worth a visit." D Gregory D Gregory

  • "Woodlands bed and breakfast and the lodges are excellent and ideally located, close to Grange Over Sands and other lovely Lake District places. Our lodge was great, modern, well equipped with everything we needed and more ... i.e. sauna. We used the bed and breakfast for our evening meals which were excellent and reasonably priced. We were impressed and will use the lodge on future family visits to the Lakes. Recommended." Claire Knight Claire Knight

  • "My husband and I came to the Somerset House for 2 nights with out baby as we were attending a wedding. I was really pleased that we chose this bed & breakfast. The staff are lovely and its really child friendly. Our room was spotless and a cot was put in our room as requested. The room facilities were great and the bathroom was fine and the shower was super powerful. Non smoking throughout which is great for people with little ones. Breakfast was lovely. Totally recommend and I give it 5 stars." Alexander Hillier Alexander Hillier

  • "In beautiful surroundings, a lovely pet friendly hotel. There is a nice bar/lounge with a roaring fire, very relaxing to sit and enjoy a drink. Breakfast was excellent and reasonably priced. Rooms are pleasant and comfortable, I have stayed in more expensive places but have to say that Hampsfell House beats them Welcoming and friendly owners who do a good job." Jennifer Jennifer

  • "Had a 2 night stay at the Derby Arms whilst visiting relatives in Grange Over sands. The pub is a warm and welcoming place for B&B, we had a lovely double bed and a roll top bath, which had me smiling from ear to ear. I enjoyed a few glasses of the wine on offer and my BF tried a few of the ales which were apparently up to scratch - I blame the parents. Windermere is just up the road and is a lovely place to visit as is Grange over Sands itself. Having had a good nights rest, i was rather looking forward to a good breakfast, unfortunately the continental on offer - was limited to say the least. Apart from this, it's a lovely place to stay and hopefully the breakfast will have improved by the time we next visit." DeeDee DeeDee

The owners are very welcoming and the accommodation is top class, very clean, comfortable and well equipped with some nice additional touches. Breakfast was delicious, well cooked and presented. Tourist Info

Grange over Sands lies on the beautiful Cumbrian coast. With the nearby Lakeland Fells and Morecambe Bay on its northern side, the town forms part of the South Lakeland district.

The TransPennine Express links major English and Scottish centres to Grange over Sands and offers visitors convenient access to this northern Edwardian-style town. The nearby market town of Kendall, along with Cartmel village and its historic priory are just a few miles away, as is Lake Windermere.

With its comfortable climate, Grange over Sands has tempted many city dwellers over the years; the benefits of the bracing sea air encouraged the building of a sanatorium in 1891. What began as small fishing hamlet has developed into a lovely town with quality accommodation available to visitors. The traffic-free promenade offers pedestrians a safe an enjoyable stroll along the seafront and through the delight that is Grange over Sands. Its manicured gardens and ornamental lake project an Edwardian ambiance, while bird-watchers can take advantage of the vast range of birds that take up residence on the estuary in the surrounding countryside.

Grange over Sand's Golf Club challenges golfers with its parkland course and maintains a warm and welcoming ethos. Netherwood Spa and Fitness Centre is available to residents of the hotel and has a steam room, spa bath and a heated pool. A number of scenic walking trails are available for anyone who loves to ramble. Take a stroll to Hampsfell Hospice, a monument perched atop Hampsfield Fell; rising to over 700 feet, the views are outstanding.

Traditional industry in Grange is centred around fishing, but the development of the town as a tourist centre has meant that a thriving restaurant and amusement scene has built up over the last one hundred years.
