  • "Although not in a lovely area, the pub was great with friendly service. My room was on the small side but well kitted out, comfortable and clean. Food was good at night and at breakfast. Believe there is music on at week-end so could get noisy, nice and quiet mid-week though." JasonWH747 JasonWH747 Review Score; 8.0/10

  • " Ian and Phoebe were great hosts at Maindee Guesthouse, the location was perfect, 2 minutes to the train station and town. The room was lovely and clean with a huge bed and refreshments. Could not fault the breakfast, cooked to order and plentiful. We thought it was great value. " Adan Adan Review Score; 9.5/10

  • "Our bedroom was comfy, sleek and modern, lots of space. Breakfast good, served in Wetherspoons attached to Furness Railway, few different parking options on residential streets but we used train station parking, £3 for 24 hours so not bad. Nice extras like biscuits and bottled water in room. Close to amenities like Tesco, five minute walk away. There wasn’t any inconvenience here and we recommend it." james james Review Score; 8.0/10

  • "Staff lovely and welcoming, cleanliness was of the highest standard, decor matched the ambience of Ormsgill in that it was traditional furnishings and a real authentic English ambience, the bar attached to the Inn was fun, enjoyed the pool table and taught my girlfriend how to play, 5minute drive from the zoo and it’s really amazing, I’d say the best zoo I’ve been to! No hesitation in recommending." Amos Amos Review Score; 8.0/10

  • "I had an overnight stay here and was very pleased with the service from all the staff I came into contact with. The area and appearance of the Royal Albert is not the best but I would not hesitate to stay again. My room was comfortable, warm and clean. Food in the evening was great plus good value, and couldn't fault breakfast either. A very good value for money and enjoyable overnighter, thanks." Jake Clancy Jake Clancy Review Score; 8.7/10

  • "I can honestly say I've already booked my return visit already. Having stayed here previously, the refurbishment has done wonders to the place. It had been chosen in the past for an easy place to stay within easy distance of my parents, now I can look forward to them staying to. The downstairs rooms for those less able to walk are just how they should be, the same as everyone else's, just with a few adaptations. I myself had an equally well furnished and comfortable room. Breakfast and dinner were both a huge success." Mrs Kilgour Mrs Kilgour Review Score; 8.3/10

  • "If your going to use your sat nav, then type in Hawthaite lane, you'll have a much better chance of arriving at the Fairway Hotel, than the total opposite end of the lane if using postcode - Head for Sandscale Haws off the A590. Once found though, reception are friendly, rooms big and well furnished, breakfast more than filling and from the Boss's point of view a good well priced place to stay. For me it beat being in a hotel in a middle of a car park, there is plenty of surrounding countryside, which is good even on a bad day." TravellingDuo TravellingDuo Review Score; 8.7/10

  • "Barrow in Furness isn't many peoples first choice of place when visiting the lakes. We'd stayed numerous times at Windermere, Coniston and Hawkshead all within easy reach by car, but had never really made it to the coastal side. I'd read something about the hotel at some point and thanks to the internet managed to come up with my place of choice The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel & Bar. Having arrived and booked in I was rather pleased with myself. The welcome was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, our well appointed room came with a proper king-size bed, bath and shower. Breakfast was equally as good, filling me up nicely before a days walk. Plenty of parking across the road and a train station and then there is the Vault bar - huge range of beers. All in all a cracking place to go." Matt S Matt S Review Score; 9.0/10

So spacious, comfortable beds, well-quipped kitchen area and plenty of toiletries provided. Would recommend eating at lovely Italian place opposite called Francesca's I think."
