Welcome to the tranquillity of Montgreenan, a mansion house hotel of great character and historical splendour, set in fifty acres of beautiful gardens and parkland.

For hundreds of years, Montgreenan Castle (also known as Montgrynen or Mountgrainen) was the seat of two noble Scottish families, first the Rosses and later the Cuninghames.

The building which occupies the site today is a handsome Georgian mansion boasting magnificent architectural features by Alexander 'Greek' Thompson. Built as a family home in 1817 for Dr Robert Glasgow the mansion house still retains an intimate, genial atmosphere which has become a rarity in an age of modern purpose-built hotels.

Montgreenan Mansion is virtually unchanged from when it was a private country house residence. You can stay in one of the original bedrooms and enjoy the luxury of a four-poster bed or a giant jacuzzi.

The 3 main suites all have views over the front gardens and grounds. However we also have less grand rooms that make the Montgreenan experience affordable for all.

These smaller rooms may once have been children's or servant's rooms and we also have 10 garden rooms that are more recent additions but still in the original house.
