Most of Zrich's sights lie within the compact area either side of the River
Limmat, between the Hauptbahnhof and Lake Zrich. The churches and burgher
houses of the Old Town are clustered here, as are the elegant shops along
Bahnhofstrasse. |
The Baroque Rathaus (Town Hall) and Zrich's most impressive
churches the Grossmnster, Fraumnster and the city's oldest, St
Peterskirche (its clock face is the largest in Europe) all lie within a
short distance of the River Limmat, near to where it opens onto the lake.
In Zrich, a total of around 2,000 bars and
restaurants pamper guests palates with culinary delicacies from all over
the world. Moreover, between spring and fall these are supplemented by some
480 open-air restaurants. The ways in which innovative ideas are implemented
are more remarkable than ever before, ranging from the Blinde Kuh, the
first restaurant in the world to be run by blind people, to
cuisine-with-a-difference by the water, to top culinary creations by
internationally renowned chefs, served in elaborate surroundings.
