What's On In Tamworth?
Tamworth may not have a reputation as one of the most well-known tourist destinations in the UK, but with its rich heritage and culture, and the wealth of attractions in and around the town it is perhaps unfairly overlooked in this regard.
Famous for, amongst other things, being the birthplace of the Robin Reliant 3-wheeled car, Tamworth experienced rapid growth in the years following the Second World War, and today has strong links with industry and commerce.
It also offers much in the way of tourist attractions. Drayton Manor theme park, with rollercoasters and thrill rides, is only a short distance away, and the town is also home to the UK's first indoor ski slope. The historic Tamworth Castle still stands today and is open to the public all year round.
The town boasts an established football team, as well as bowls and speedway clubs.
It also is home to a wide range of modern facilities, allowing you to shop in its high street retail names and independent shops, or enjoy fine food and drink in one of Tamworth's many restaurants and bars. The towns of Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield, as well as the city of Birmingham are all easily accessible from here, making it an ideal base from which to explore the best that the Midlands has to offer.
