What's On In Slough?
Slough is not exactly renowned for its tourism, indeed it is known to many as the very antithesis of a tourist town! But in many ways this reputation unfairly precedes it, for there's much to see and do in and around the area.
Whilst the reality is that Slough's economy is more dependent on commerce and industry than on tourism, the town itself is actually an intriguing combination of the old and new, with a large number of listed buildings as well as 21st Century shopping, dining and entertainment facilities with pubs, clubs and restaurants serving cuisine to suit all tastes.
Located on the outskirts of London close to Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough is ideally situated for either heading into the capital, or exploring what the more rural areas of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire have to offer. The town is also very close to Heathrow Airport.
Slough's status as a commercial town means that there's actually a surprising amount of things to see in this regard, from the Horlick's factory to the 1920s power station.
As well as being home to established football, rugby and hockey teams, Slough is also home to its own ice hockey team, and is famed for having produced many Olympic athletes over the years.
