Zane Grey Resort is located at Otehei Bay, on Urupukapuka Island, the largest of over 140 islands in the Bay, and one steeped in both Maori and European history. Urupukapuka has an area of 580 acres and was vested by the Crown as a recreational reserve in 1970. And as such, Urupukapuka is the only island in the Bay readily accessible to the public.
Explore the island’s stunning beaches by foot or by kayak. Those willing to invest a little effort will be rewarded by deserted beaches and crystal clear waters. Visit Maori Pa sites, where defensive strongholds and food storage pits can still be seen today. Take a gentle 10 minute climb to enjoy 360 degree views of the many islands scattered throughout the Bay. Or sit back and enjoy the views, and the hospitality at the Zane Grey Restaurant and Bar. The beautiful beach at Otehei Bay and grassy picnic areas are the perfect place to enjoy a spot of island life. Fullers Bay of Islands offer a variety of daily ferry services to Zane Grey Resort providing easy access to visitors for the day or longer.
The Zane Grey Restaurant & Bar is fully licensed and open daily from 10am daily. The restaurant offers a variety of meals and refreshments for those wanting a quick snack or a sit down meal. Relax and dine throughout the day with our all day a la carte menu, freshly prepared gourmet sandwiches and home baked treats. Choose to dine inside, al fresco, or even on the beach. Or if you prefer to find a private retreat, Picnic packs are available to takeaway.
Our chefs can accommodate groups of almost any size. We cater for Weddings, Birthdays, Corporate & Incentive groups and other special events. We have a variety of set menus and dining options available on request.
