Welcome to Woodlands Country House, a warm and friendly Victorian home, previously the vicarage, set in wonderful scenery on the edge of the Lake District National Park, away from the crowds. We offer you a very warm welcome and will do everything we can to spoil you and to make your stay relaxing, refreshing and special. Stroll in the gardens, which attract all manner of wildlife, and admire the view or relax with afternoon tea in one of our two comfortable lounges and read the paper in front of an open fire.

All our bedrooms are en-suite with colour TV, hairdrier, clock radio and hospitality tray with home-made shortbread. Superior rooms are larger with DVD/CD player as well as TV and fresh flowers, chocolates and towelling robes to make your stay even more special. Big fluffy towels, luxury toiletries and a vast selection of books help to make your visit enjoyable.

Our varied breakfast menu includes full Cumbrian breakfast with locally produced Cumberland sausage, bacon and free range eggs, and lighter options such as English muffins, croissants, pancakes, fruit and cereals. We serve a four course dinner offering a choice of freshly prepared meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, using local produce and home grown fruit and vegetables wherever possible. We have a well stocked cosy bar and a carefully selected wine list.

Ireby is a delightful traditional farming village, well away from noise, crowds and stress, yet within easy reach of Keswick, Cockermouth and the West coast. Set in the area known as back o' Skiddaw, it is an ideal base to explore the Northern and Western fells and lakes, Caldbeck fells and the South Solway coast.

Directions
From M6, junction 40, follow the A66 towards Keswick. At the roundabout just beyond Keswick turn right onto the A591 towards Carlisle. Continue for about 7 miles then turn right at the Castle Inn and follow signs to Ireby. Drive straight through the village and we are the last house on the left, just past the church.

From Carlisle, follow the A595 towards Cockermouth. Turn left at Mealsgate onto the B5299 then continue through Boltongate to Ireby. We are the first house on the right as you enter the village.
