Description:
A 12th century Devon inn situated at the centre of the Southwest England. The restaurant offers superb food including local fresh fish & game, with a high standard modern accommodation. Our rooms were added to the old building on the site of the old skittle alley in 1989. They are extremely comfortable & have colour TV, tea & coffee making facilities, & en-suite power showers & toilets throughout.

This is a beautiful old English pub with a thatched roof, low beamed ceilings, flag stone floors & inglenook fireplaces. Just off the A35 to the east of Honiton in the heart of Sir Francis Drake country. The 800 year end inn, built originally as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Beaulieu, nestles beside the babbling Cory brook, overlooked by Danes Hill the site of a fort built by the marauding Vikings who came to these parts long before the Norman conquest. But Dalwood has not been invaded by tourists- this is rural England at its best and quietest!

Only 140 miles from London and Birmingham, east Devon offers much to keep the visitor occupied. A 15 minute drive is all it takes to reach Lyme Regis- famous for it's Elizabethan quaintness, featured in many novels & films. Most notably its cob where "The French Lieutenant's Woman" waited in vain. here you might exhaust yourself fossilling on the nearby heritage site christened the 'Jurassic Coast', there are so many- walking the mighty cliff paths, or you could dally in the small fishing villages which dot the coast like Beer or Branscombe.

It is a delightful place in an idyllic setting. Beverley and Les were incredibly hospitable and friendly, and the meals exceptionally generous and of good quality. As a dog owner, my Cocker Spaniel was also made very welcome! I will return ...
