Description:
The Ship Inn was built in the early 1800s and was a Coaching House on the York to Hull highway, being half-way between these two cities and within easy reach of Scarborough, Bridlington and the North Yorks Moors. From here you can take advantage of the moors Steam Railway which allows you to visit the village of Goathland where 'Heartbeat' is filmed. From this venue you can also visit Castle Howerd where'Brideshead Revisited' was filmed and is open to visitors daily. In nearby Market Weighton you can also visit the house of Giant Bradley, the recorded tallest man in England measuring 7ft 9ins with a shoe size of 15 inches.
The Ship Inn's new 5 en suite bedrooms have been built on the site of the old stables and all have been tastefully furnished in pine to the highest standard, including colour television and tea and coffee making facilities. The dining room has seating for 24, in a non smoking environment, where you can enjoy a meal from our varied menu. We pride ourselves in having the largest sweet menu in the area, with 17 varieties available at any one time.
The bar areas have been completely refurbished including a new wooden floor making it into a ship's deck with a nautical theme throughout. Real ale lovers will feel at home as we have three regular hand pulled and one guest ale. We are only 500 yards from the Worlds Way, so walkers can rest their weary feet and take time out to relax and replenish themselves on our fine food and ale, not to mention good company.
