The Old Iron Inn B&B is a small, European style bed and breakfast located in the heart of Caribou, Maine. The Inn is within walking distance to the grocery store, restaurants, post office, banks, library and movie theater. Cary Medical Center is 1 1/4 miles away. Wireless internet service is available to all guests. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable, featuring a fine collection of antique pressing irons. Caribou is located in far northern Maine, about a 3 hour drive north of Bangor. New Brunswick, Canada, is 12 miles to the east. The summers are cool and green and lovely, with a festival of some sort almost weekend. Autumn is spectacular, with the type of foliage seen only in New England. Winter is the real season in northern Maine, however, and the region boasts two world-class biathlon training facilities. Downhill skiing is available at Mars Hill and there are extensive groomed snowmobile trails everywhere.
Northern Maine is refreshingly rural and beautiful, with gorgeous countryside, perfect for bicycling or just nature watching. If you are looking for a quiet low-stress get away, Aroostook County is the place for you.
