Description:
The original home of Walter Reid, the donor of Reid State Park in Georgetown, and later his daughter Louise R. Butler. It is now owned by Mr. Reid's great granddaughter Penny, and her family.
Five unique rooms, all with private baths, air conditioning and great ocean views. Beautiful gardens and elegant old plantings adorn the grounds. A roomy casual porch catches the warm summer breezes. Enjoy the "Spanish Room" for quiet times and reading. An inviting and hearty Maine breakfast is served daily in our dining room or on the porch, where you can enjoy the view. We are a non-smoking inn.
The Mooring has beautifully landscaped grounds with wonderful old plantings, some which go back to the early 1900's. There is a Pergola directly on the ocean edge to exchange your vows and we have a large groomed lawn to have your tented reception and wonderful music while enjoying a great meal prepared by the Mooring staff and Island Caterers.
You can have a casual lobster bake put on by Penny's sons Todd & Jason (Jason is a lobsterman), featuring the wonderful Five Island Lobsters and locally dug steamers along with Clam Chowder and all the Fixin's, including Penny's Blueberry Cake.
A more formal dinner can be either a Sit Down or a Buffet and can be as simple as Baked hams or Grilled Chicken to Seafood Stuffed Lobster Tails and grilled Filet Mignon. We also have a wide variety of Appetizers that can be either stationed or passed. We can always custom design a Menu to meet the Bride and Grooms palate and expectations. It is very important to us to make sure we tend to every little detail.
