Description:
Boats are very welcome here at The Maltsters Arms, our quayside is accessible for up to 3 hours either side of high tide. Below is more detailed tidal and navigational information.

Dinghies can tie up on our pontoon, , and larger boats can tie up on the quayside. You are welcome to berth overnight, as long as you are happy drying out on the soft mud against the quayside. Please try to phone us in advance (01803 732350) if you intend staying overnight. You can fill up with water, and we have a shore power available at £5 per visit. We regret we can not offer any berthing facilities for more than 2 nights.

The mud at our quayside is effectively about 2.5m above Dartmouth Datum, if you are using the Dartmouth Tidal Curve. High tide at Tuckenhay is only 10-15 mins after Dartmouth (There is often a small secondary rise of up to 0.1m between 20 and 50 minutes after high tide, so do not rely on observation to tell you if the tide is going in or out here! As we are so close to the head of the creek there is minimal flow of tide, the water just goes up and down.)

The pontoon floats for about 3 or more hours either side of high tide.A boat drawing 3 feet can come onto our quayside for about 1.5 to 2.5 hours either side of high tide. A boat drawing 4.5 feet can come about 2 hours either side of high tide, but needs an absolute minimum 4.0m Dartmouth high tide. A boat drawing 6ft can come about 1.5 hours either side of high tide, but needs a minimum 4.5m Dartmouth high tide.

Some yachts anchor in the deep water NW of White Rock and come up by dinghy (a trip of 1.2Nm).Some yachts pick up a blue DHNA mooring bouy just downstream of the pub and row ashore.
