Welcome to The Island Sanctuary, a boutique FOUR AND A HALF STAR Bed & Breakfast located just 1 hour from both Brisbane & The Gold Coast. A 15 minute ferry ride through the beautiful islands of Southern Moreton Bay begins your relaxing getaway. The islands are nestled within Stradbroke Island, creating usually calm and protected waters for boating and fishing.

ABOUT US

The Island Sanctuary was created with tranquility in mind. Here you can relax and enjoy the doing very little. The Sanctuary can be a destination in itself.

ROOMS

Both rooms have ensuite facilities, reverse cycle airconditioning, tea and coffee making, bar fridge, robes, TV/CD/DVD, and DVD library, drawing materials, and games.

THE BLUE ROOM is a light and spacious room amongst the tree tops.

THE VERANDAH ROOM has french doors opening on to the spacious deck.

Both rooms are delightfully furnished with an asian ambiance.

GUEST SERVICES

A delicious gourmet breakfast is served on the deck at a time to suit you.
Take our bicycles and tour the other islands if you are feeling energetic or maybe play a round of golf on Macleay Island's 9 hole course. We have complimentary clubs available.
If you want to just relax we can arrange an in house massage with a qualified therapist or you may enjoy a facial with organic products.
Our guest sitting room is a lovely place to relax with a coffee or a glass of port.
The screened deck is great for enjoying birdsong and a game of chess.
You may like a BBQ in one of our private courtyards.

TRANSPORT ON THE ISLAND.

If you are staying just the night you will not need a car as we will take you to the varoius restaurants and clubs who also have courtesy buses.

If you wish to stay longer it is not necessary to have a car but we do reccommend that you have one available. Either bring your own or rent-a-wreck on the island for about $35 a day. If you would like to take up this option please let us know and we will be happy to help.

And of course there are our bicycles.

HOW TO GET HERE

From BRISBANE AIRPORT take the Gateway Motorway south to the Mount Gravatt - Redland Bay intersection and go east to Redland Bay.

From BRISBANE CITY take the Pacific Highway south to the Mount Gravatt - Redland Bay exit and go east to Redland Bay

From the GOLD COAST and the south take the Pacific Motorway north to exit 31 the Beenleigh - Redland Bay road and go east to Redland Bay.

At REDLAND BAY follow the signs to the ferries which are:-

For the Passenger Ferry go to the terminal on Banana Street. There is parking in the area but it can take a little while so allow about 15 minutes.

For the car ferry go to the terminal on Weinam Creek which is adjacent to Banana street.

ONCE ON MACLEAY ISLAND

Drive up the hill next to the jetty and turn left at the crossroads. This road goes right at what looks like a crossroads after about 200m. Take the first left into Scarborough Terrace which becomes Western Road. Follow that to Emily Crescent and we are on the corner with an Island Sanctuary sign. It might help to print the map on this web site.

If you are taking the passenger ferry we are happy to meet you at the jetty and will return you there at the end of your stay.

There are numerous International and Domestic flights to Brisbane Airport and to the Gold Coast Airport (Coolangatta)
