Description:
The Bower is a beautiful Georgian country house with splendid views in an idyllic setting. The Bower is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which has the best woodland walking in northern England and the most beautiful coastal scenery in the north-west. Leighton Moss RSPB reserve is within walking distance.
This idyllic yet little known corner of England is an ideal base from which to explore the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks as well as the local attractions. Just ten minutes from junction 35 of the M6, it is also perfect for stopovers en route to or from Scotland.
The Bower is an 18th century private house that has recently been fully modernised whilst retaining many original features. The house dates from about 1745, when it was a farmhouse. It was extended in about 1800 and converted into a “gentleman’s residence”. The house faces east and has views to Ingleborough. A short walk brings you to a spot with beautiful views over Leighton Hall to the Lakeland Hills and Morecambe Bay. The gardens cover ¾ acre, the front has a croquet lawn and the rear rises to woodland. Guests are welcome to wander in the garden.
There are two comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms for guests. One has a double and a single bed and an en suite bathroom. The other has a king-size bed and private bathroom. Both have every comfort including colour televisions, clock radios, hair dryers, electric blankets and tea and coffee making facilities. Both bathrooms are spacious and have baths and showers.
