Welcome
Set in a peaceful leafy lane, only ten minutes walk from the seafront, The Sandpiper Hotel has been decorated and furnished throughout to a very high standard. You will receive a very warm welcome from resident proprietors, David and Carol Groves, who will do everything they can to make your stay here as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, in the hope that like so many other guests, you will want to come and stay again. The hotel is licensed for residents and has a well stocked Cellar Bar.
Meals
We have a large yet intimate Dining Room with separate tables. Here we serve a Hearty Full English Breakfast, which we trust will set you up for the day. Later you can enjoy one of our delicious optional Evening Meals. We have a varied menu and are happy to cater for Vegetarian and other Special Diets, subject to prior notice. All our meals are prepared on the premises. We shop daily and purchase local Devon produce whenever available. We can provide guests with packed lunches if required.
A Place to Relax
At the end of your day why not unwind in our very comfortable Residents Lounge. We have a good selection of books and board games and Colour Television for guests use. You may prefer to have a drink here or at our cosy Hotel bar, which leads outside to our peaceful Garden and Decked Area with seats and tables, which is illuminated after dark.
Bedrooms
The hotel has 10 beautiful Bedrooms, most of which are fully en-suite, including 4 Double Rooms, 2 Twin Rooms,1 Single Room, a Family Suite with 1 Double and 2 Single beds, and 2 Family Rooms with 1 Double and 1 Single bed. Some rooms are on the Ground Floor. They all have Remote Control Colour TV, Alarm/Clock/Radio, Shaver Point, Hair Dryer and generous Courtesy Tray with Tea and Coffee making Facilities. The hotel is Centrally Heated making us the ideal venue for one of our ‘Bargain Out of Season Breaks.’

Local Places of Interest
The Sandpiper Hotel makes the perfect base from which to visit some of the many beautiful and Historic places of interest, found in this truly lovely part of the West Country. Torbay itself has two superb local Theatres and the Hotel is only a short distance away from The English Riviera Centre and Torre Abbey Mansion and Gardens. There are also many other unusual and varied local attractions, including Pre-historic Kents Cavern and The Model Village at Babbacombe. We are also quite close to the Ancient Quaint Thatched Village at Cockington, and Paignton Zoo. Perhaps you would prefer a visit to Brixham, Totnes or a trip along the River Dart to Dartmouth with its famous Naval College. Other pursuits include Golf,Surfing, Fishing, Horse Racing or a trip to Dartmoor National Park. The choice is endless, and please be assured, whatever you choose to do, we will do our best to make your stay here both happy and memorable.
How to find us
From M5 straight on to A380, then on to A3022 to Torquay. At Torre Station (by Halford’s) move into right lane, towards Seafront, Paignton & Brixham. Carry on into Avenue Road and across the lights at the junction with Mill Lane. Then turn left into Bampfylde Roaf and then left again into Rowdens road, and we are just along on the left hand side.
