The award winning 17th Century Royal Castle Hotel in Dartmouth is privately owned and perfectly located in the heart of Dartmouth overlooking the inner harbour and Dart estuary. We have 25 unique ensuite bedrooms, many with four poster beds and spa baths, our river view dartmouth restaurant 'Nu', two bars and parking.
'Nu' our first floor restaurant decorated in a contemporary classic style and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Restaurant provides the ideal location for a romantic dinner, lunch with friends, private parties, or business gatherings. Our seasonal menus demonstrate our support for the Taste of the West 'buy local' campaign. The Royal Castle Hotel was founder member of the South Hams Food and Drink Association.
Enjoy the truly wonderful tastes of the sea. We purchase much of our fish directly from the fishing boats landing at the Dartmouth quayside, so you can enjoy the finest Devon catch at your table.
Our experienced wedding co-ordinator is full of ideas and will be on hand to help you plan your day. Whether your wedding reception is a small, intimate occasion, a family gathering, formal or informal, we have the experience and the expertise required to make your wedding day the most wonderful day of your life.
The Royal Castle is a very popular meeting place for locals and visitors. We have two different style atmospheric bars situated on the ground floor. The Galleon Bar is a more traditional and the Harbour Bar with big screen and regular live music TV more contemporary. Both have great atmospheres with open fires during the winter and offer different styles of menus. Different charity, fun and musical events are staged through the year.

The hotel was lovely, especially as we were upgraded, but the first room they offered us was a big disappointment, so I offered to pay more to get a River View and was then upgraded for free. The breakfasts were good,, but the food at night was just average and we only ate there the first night, my partner couldn't eat his meal as it was too oily..he had the veg option but unfortunately there was only a choice of 2 mains that were vegetarian. Although the room was lovely, and the jacuzzie bath, on the Friday night there was a Fancy Dress Party in the Contemporary Bar, the noise was very intrusive, we could hear the words to the songs in our room, not just the base, it finished at 5 past midnight, as there were demands for more music from the revellers, but then there was noise from the same until 1am so that did spoil what was otherwise a very good stay. At the time I vowed never again, as it seemed along time from 10.30 when we switched off our light until 1am... but if I do visit
