Description:
Red Bank is an elegant, traditionally built Lakeland house located in the residential fringes of Ambleside. The centre of the village along with its many restaurants, bars and local amenities is only a 5 minute walk. The Lake Windermere launch and steamer trips are available at Waterhead which is only half a mile away. Our central location makes Red Bank an ideal base for discovering the Lake District - From here all the grandeur of the Lake District National Park are within easy reach - as are outdoor activities and water sports of every kind. We have 3 tastefully furnished en-suite rooms offering spacious deluxe accommodation with many little extras. Our 5 Star Visit Britain award together with our Silver Accolade reflect the comfort, quality and service enjoyed by our guests. Feel assured that we will do our very best to make your stay with us as relaxing and comfortable as possible.
The House
Built approximately 1904 the house was originally called Glenamble and was a large semi detached house with adjoining servant’s quarters.
The Entrance
Step into Red Bank and feel at home. Fresh flowers, quality carpets and large entrance hall greet you on entering the house.
The Hall and Lounge
Upon arrival after checking into your room, we will be pleased to serve you complimentary tea or coffee with biscuits or home made cake. While relaxing by our cosy wood burning stove you may wish to browse through our "Where to Eat Guide in Ambleside", which contains a collection of sample menus from the many bistros and restaurants.
The Dining Room
Breakfast is served from 8:30 until 9:00 in our bright and airy dining room which overlooks the garden. Start the day with a light, full or vegetarian breakfast which is freshly cooked to order. Whenever possible we use local produce. Please advise us, when you book, of any special dietary requirements.
The Bedrooms
Red Bank's three bedrooms (2 double and 1 twin/super king double) have fully appointed en-suite bathrooms with Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, colour television, DVD player, clock/radio, hospitality tray, hair dryer, mineral water, dressing gown and many little extras provided for your comfort. All the rooms are double glazed and bedroom temperature is controlled by your radiator thermostat. Every care has been taken in individually designing and furnishing each room in a comfortable style in keeping with our 5 STAR & Silver Accolade Award
Windermere is the nearest railway station about 5 miles from Ambleside When you stay at Red Bank we will be happy to collect you by car from Windermere Station and return you at the end of your stay.
Travel by Road. From the South, leave the M6 at Jct 36 and pass Kendal on the bypass and then follow the A591 to Ambleside. Pass Windermere town on your left and as you enter Ambleside at Waterhead traffic lights continue straight ahead. Passing Hayes Garden Centre you will turn left at the BP petrol station onto Wamsfell Rd. RED BANK is the last house on the left hand side.
