Description:
At Polraen, remain undisturbed by seagulls, avoid the stress of parking problems and relax in a comfortable guest lounge, fully licensed evening bar and large sunny garden. All bedrooms are ensuite offering modern, comfortable & well equipped facilities, whilst the charm of a bygone era remains in this former stone-built coaching inn. Swap stories with fellow guests, enjoy dinner over-looking the garden, relax and make yourself 'at home'. Recognised as finalists in the AA Landlady of the Year Award 2006, the resident proprietors Gill & Martin Bridges, are known for attentive service, high standards of comfort and warm hospitality. Delicious home cooking also earns an AA 'crusted pie' symbol for good food using locally sourced produce, with fish and seafood a speciality.
Double, Twin and Family rooms are all en-suite, with modern shower or bathrooms, thermostatically controlled radiators, remote control colour TV, hair dryers and hospitality tray with beverage-making facilities. An additional bathroom is available for guests' general use. Superior rooms are available offering either a kingsize bed, a garden view or a full size bathroom rather than shower room. Polraen is a non smoking establishment.
As all food is individually prepared and home cooked, we request starter and main course choices by 11 am on the day, serving meals in the Dining Room from 7 pm. Please note that the Dining Room and Bar are closed on Sunday evenings - we are more than happy to assist with bookings at local restaurants. In summer in hot sunny weather, evening dinner may occasionally be replaced with a BBQ.
Directions. From Plymouth: At the end of the M5 motorway continue onto Plymouth on the A38 crossing over the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall. Continue on the A38 toward Liskeard, for about 10 miles, ignoring the first signs you see for Looe at the Trerulefoot Roundabout. Turn left on to the B3251 signposted 'Widegates, Sandplace, Looe'. Follow the signs for Looe, joining the A387 just before Morval. Follow a steep hill down passing the memorial hall on your left and cottages on your right. At the bottom of the hill, you will see a Polraen Hotel sign on the right. Turn sharp right at the junction with the B3254. Our car park is immediately to your left and the hotel on the right. From the West: Turn off the A38 at Dobwalls onto the B3254 to Looe. After about 4 miles, go through the village of Duloe and descend into the Looe Valley down a steep hill through woods. Minds the bends! Cross over the railway bridge past Sandplace Station and the hotel is on your left before your reach the junction with the A387. From Looe: Take the A387 following the river. When you reach the junction with the B3254, we are right in front of you. You can't miss us.
