Description:
Philipburn Country House Hotel was in former times the Dower House to the Philiphaugh Estate. Built in 1751 by the Strang-Steel family of the Philiphaugh Estate, the house was the family home until 1845 when it was then let out to tenants. The family moved back to Philipburn in 1885. The Philipburn was sold to be converted into a hotel in 1972 and the current owners Ian and Marie Wells took over in October 2007. The lounge fireplace features one of the original beams of the house carved with the date of the building. Surrounded by gardens and woodland the Philipburn enjoys a tranquil setting on the edge of the border town of Selkirk
Philipburn's award winning restaurant and Bistro offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere with menus ranging from fine dining to bar lunches using the best of local produce. We specialise in making your stay and short break memorable and have arrangements with many local facilities and activities.
We have 5 Luxury rooms and 7 Standard rooms located in the main hotel. Each of these high quality en-suite bedrooms is individually designed and tastefully appointed to the highest standards. Our Luxury rooms are perfect for that special treat or romantic stay with some rooms featuring Jacuzzi baths, and some with a mezzanine floor and balcony dividing the lounge from the sleeping area.
If you want find us by Car. From Edinburgh railway station then on via car or bus. By car follow A7 southbound (Galashiels / Selkirk) out of the city and follow as for directions from airport. From Edinburgh Airport take the bypass, follow signs for A7 South, Hawick / Galashiels, coming off the bypass onto the A7. After approx 20 miles you reach Galashiels. Follow signs for A7 Hawick through town and continue through to Selkirk. When you see Baxters approaching on the right, take the turn off following signs A72 / A707 Peebles / Moffat. This will take you through the industrial estate until you reach a junction where you turn right, crossing the River Ettrick, and continue on to end of road. Our driveway is facing you at this junction.
