Description:
Located in the real Lake District, peace and beauty without the crowds. Magnificent walking and stunning scenery all around combined with warm hospitality and excellent food.

The House dates back to 1650 when it was part of Lord Egremont's Cumberland Estate. The original name of the property is not known but records show it as New House Farm as early as 1832.

Original features discovered include oak beams and rafters, flagged floors and stone open fireplaces where log fires crackle on colder days. The House and adjoining barn are listed Grade II.

The cooking is a particular attraction and Hazel produces a fine range of traditional set five-course English Dinners, with local ingredients wherever possible. Starters may be Liver Pate with Port Jelly followed by cream of Fennel Soup. Main Courses are usually roasts - Pheasant, Lamb, Duckling or possibly locally caught Salmon.

Inside the house on the first floor all bedrooms have en-suite facilities (and magnificent views).

'Low Fell' is a large double/twin with en-suite bath and views across the valley to Low Fell In the West.

'Fellbarrow' is a double with shower looking out to Fellbarrow to the west.

'The Stable' is on the ground floor and has a king sized solid oak four poster bed with large bath & shower looking to Fellbarrow to the west. ( Sorry, no dogs allowed in either of the four poster rooms).

'Whiteside' is a double room with shower and looks to Dodd and Whiteside to the East.

'Swinside' has a large double brass bed with en-suite bath and from the window seat is a good view of Swinside covered in heather. (Swinside incidentally supplies us with our own Spring water).
