Description:
Welcome to The Morven Guest House, formerly The Morven House Hotel on Dorset's Jurassic World Heritage Coast. Morven House is a family run nine bedroom guesthouse superbly situated just 150 yards from the sea near the beautiful Greenhill Gardens.
Morven House was built in the 1860's by George Crickmay with whom the novelist Thomas Hardy trained as an architect while he lived locally at 3 Wooperton Street. It remained a private residence owned by the Earl of Wilton until 1920 when it was sold to the then occupant Maria Robinson for 140 pounds. After a period when it was owned by Mr Horton, a surgeon at Weymouth Hospital, it became a hotel in 1945.
For sixty years The Morven House has been a perfect base for enjoying a traditional English Seaside Holiday on a bed and breakfast basis and for exploring Dorset. Within easy walking distance are: The Lodmoor and Radipole RSPB Reserves, The Southwest Coastal Footpath, Weymouth Sealife Centre, Preston Beach, The Esplanade, Old Harbour and The Nothe Fort.
It's under ten miles to the Portland Bird Observatory, Portland Bill Lighthouse, Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury, Dorchester & Poundbury and within forty minutes' drive are the chocolate box cottages of Lulworth Cove, Briantspuddle, Litton Cheney, Little Bredy and Milton Abbas
