Breakfast in the oldest dateable house in Stromness owned by the Merchant family of "Miller" for the bulk of 3 Centuries. Lieutenant James Miller while in command of HMS Cyane, conducted a successful naval engagement against a French frigate in the Bay of Naples in 1809. Captain George L Miller was the owner of the Stromness coaling schooner, Mary Grace during the 1920's.

A religious statement, written in heavy moulded stone above the doorway, indicates a period before 1660, although the marriage entabliture and joint coat of arms of John Miller and M. Nesbit dates back to 1716.

The house has remained in the merchant family of Miller from then until 1997, when following the death of the late Nellie Miller, it was bought by Magnus and Maureen Dennison who have renovated to a high standard. Harbourside Guest House, just around the corner is where you will find the 6 guest bedrooms, all tastefully decorated & each with their own private shower & wc. Both houses are centrally situated in the pictueresque little town of Stromness & very close to the ferry terminal, bus stop & tourist information.
