Description:
Lydney house built around 1746 is a large Georgian merchants house. Set in its own grounds and back from the road. Only a 5 minute walk from the centre of the historic Georgian market town of Swaffham. Market day is Saturday and the town offers all the amenities required for an enjoyable leisure or business visit.
The hotel is family run and offers a warm welcome. Relax in the bar or meet friends in the garden before taking a meal in our restaurant. Our style of presentation is not too formal although we are professional and discreet. We welcome the opportunity to get to know our guests and are pleased to offer any local information we can.
Our garden is home to Ducks, Rabbits, Squirrels, Bats, an occasional Peacock, hedgehogs and many others. Trees of interest include a Japanese Weeping Larch, a Weeping Ash, a pair of magnificent Horse Chestnuts, some Yew a Corsican Pine, Sweet Chestnut and Holly.
15 Miles from Kings Lynn and 30 Miles from Norwich you will find we are well placed to reach anywhere in the county. The coast is particularly popular with Bird enthusiasts and Wells-next-the-sea is a favourite with families. Hunstanton and Cromer are both popular and interesting resorts.
Thetford forest offers some interesting walks and allows you to get close to nature. A visitor centre close to Brandon provides bike trails as well as well marked paths.
Other interesting features of Norfolk include Sandringham House, Blickling Hall, The Catholic Shrine at Walsingham and the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham (complete with the largest wind turbine in the country.If you feel energetic there is a viewing deck at the top).
