Lakefield is set in stunning surroundings overlooking Esthwaite Water with Coniston Old Man as a backdrop in the hamlet of Near Sawrey close to the former home of Beatrix Potter. Ideally situated for walking, cycling, trail-running, fishing and mountain-biking. Or exploring by car. Maps and guide books are available for your use and we will be pleased to help you plan your day.

The Tower Bank Arms public house can be found in the village about 400 metres from your property. There is also a shop and Post Office in Far Sawrey [the next village] and makes a terrific walk first thing in the morning to collect your daily newspaper and any groceries you may need. The church of St. Stephens is also in Far Sawrey. The fulsome flavour of the local cuisine can be found in the village of nearby Hawkshead.

DIRECTIONS & LOCATION

Exit M6 at junction 36. Take the A591 to Kendal and onto Windermere, then Ambleside. From here take the B5284 to Hawkshead. From Hawkshead follow the B5285 to Near Sawrey. Lakefield is on your right as you enter the village.

Alternatively, exit M6 at junction 36 and take the A591 to Kendal. At the Plumgarth roundabout turn left onto the B5284 heading towards Crook. At Bowness you will be able to take the car ferry across Lake Windermere to Far Sawrey. Follow on towards Hawkshead, Near Sawrey is the next village. Lakefield is on your left hand side just before you leave the village.
