Description:
After years of neglect, Peter & Pam Fischer purchased Lake Edge in September 1997 and started the business from scratch with vision and passion. They have invested much in Lake Edge to ensure it has all the modern conveniences. Now all accommodations feature full kitchens with outdoor BBQ’s, 3-piece bathrooms complete with soaps and towels, firm comfortable beds with quality linens and duvets and comfy furnishings. Plus they were the first pet-friendly resort in the Kawarthas and one of the first in Ontario. They love interacting with their guests and their pets and have been donating 20% of their pet fees to Animal Shelters and supporting Rescue Organizations since the start of 2003. Our goal is to continually make improvements, both big and small, so that all our returning guests will see something new at Lake Edge.
The Fischer’s concern for the environment is seen in their naturalized shoreline, steady, low-impact docks, minimal night lighting, energy conservation, low-emission 4-stroke boat motors, composting, recycling, upgraded department of health approved septic systems and zero-tolerance use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers on their lawns and flower and herb gardens. As members of the Kawartha Lakes Stewards, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, they test the waters of Katchewanooka Lake every summer.
Peter & Pam both enjoyed cottage-life growing up and wanted to share that experience with others. Peter was born in Weston, raised in Bolton and attended Queen’s University for a business degree. His family had a cottage on Christian Island in Georgian Bay and now have one on Shawanaga Lake near Parry Sound. Pam was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and attended Wilfrid Laurier University for a business degree as well. Her family cottage was on Lake Superior north of Sault Ste. Marie on Havilland Bay. Peter & Pam met in Toronto and lived in Toronto’s Greek Town and in Brampton before purchasing Lake Edge.
The motto of Lake Edge Cottages is: “No one deserves to get away from it all more than you do!”. The Fischer’s friendly hospitality, attention to detail, personal touch and genuine warmth, enhance a relaxing stay surrounded by the natural beauty of Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes region.
