My husband and I (as well as another couple) just stayed a weekend at Inn The Woods. What a perfect weekend getaway! As we drove up it was snowing, which just added to the idyllic state.
We stayed 2 nights in the Treetop Suite (our friends took the Cliffside Room) and we were thrilled. Every little detail had been thought of - down to wine glasses and a corkscrew in our room. The mini fridge was stocked with bottled water, there was a selection of teas and coffee that could be made, not that we needed anything else after the way we ate that weekend! There was even a large bookshelf stocked with video and DVD movies, as well as a large selection of boardgames - it was perfect!
Our bathroom was stocked with shampoo, soap, lotion, and plenty of towels, as well as bathrobes, which were perfect when we used the outside jacuzzi late Saturday afternoon. That part was really wonderful.
But the best part was the food - the breakfasts both mornings were out of this world - Harry and Valarie

Upon entering the driveway of this B & B, located in a beaucolic setting just off the major thoroughfare, our hosts, Valarie and Harrison, were outside to greet us and help us with our luggage.
The rooms we occupied are most appropriately named the Tree Top and Cliffside: They were spotlessly clean and up-to-date with all the creature comforts you could expect from a B & B. Most noteworthy were the views, which were incredible: The Tree Top occupies the entire second floor and could comfortably sleep 4, with its 2 double beds and then a futon/sofa nearby, and has its own bathroom and kitchenette; The Cliffside is a generously-sized room on the far corner of the first floor, offering a king-size bed and its own full bathroom.
The recommendations Valarie gave us were right on the mark: The hosts keep a "bible" of menus from local restaurants; the tour itinerary Valarie suggested was accurate regarding times, conditions, time allocation, etc. The Inn's location is perfectly situated

This was our 3rd trip to the Hyde Park area, and our choice of Inn the Woods made it the best! The Inn is located in a very private wooded area of Hyde Park, but is very near the Culinary Institute of America, which was one of our main destinations. Our room (the Cliffside Room) was spacious, private and nicely furnished. The bed was huge and the view outside our windows of rock cliffs and changing leaves on trees was beautiful. The bathroom is supplied with all the necessities like soap, shampoo, conditioner, extra towels, etc. Cable tv is a nice addition, and Val and Harry have provided lots of extra touches such as candles around the room, robes in the closet, etc.
Breakfasts are full and delicious with homemade breads, jams, and muffins, plus fresh fruits to start. We had crepes, omlettes, french toast and never went away hungry. Great coffee, too. Harry did some work at the CIA and it shows! Can't forget the fireplace at breakfast either! Valarie is great with tourist tips too, a
