Description:
In the year 1644 the gabled timber-framed house was build in front of "Altenceller Tor" (the old city gates). Since the travellers with their horse-drawn carriages were not permitted to remain after dark within the city walls, the house was used as an inn and as a place to unhitch the horses for the night. Due to its location, next to the "Magnusgraben", the building was later used as a tannery. The ownership of the building went to a Jewish family after the brook was filled. The local synagoge is also located in the adjacent houses.

After the brook was reopened the building was once again used as a tannery until the beginning of this century. 1986 in keeping with the tradition of an inn, this historical building was artfully restored, maintaining the original style and interior decor.

Today you’ll find in the lovingly restored historic building, a three tavern. The hotel rooms are artfully furnished with antiques, having either a bath or a shower, toilet, phone, modem connection and of course cable-television.

For the comfort and relaxation of our guests there is a sauna, a solarium, a sun-deck and an idyllic garden area. For guests staying for a longer period of time we offer“boarding rooms” connected to the hotel. Altogether you’ll find 8 rooms and 1 suit in the Utspann hotel.

The Utspann offers it's guest a Sauna which lies in the inner courtqard with view of the "Magnusgraben". Even if the sun is not shining, you can enjoy a sunbath in our solarium. Kanu travels can be easily organised on the Lachte and Aller. Would you like to make a bicycle tour across the "Südheide"? If this is your desire, we hold bicycles available.

You can reach the "Celler Badeland" (6 pools, whirlpool, saltwater bath, water slide, cosmetic studio, etc.) from the Utspann comfortably within walking distance. Shopping in the old part of Celle: Behind the wonderful fassades of Celle's city you can find utmost treasures during your shopping tour. Our staff will be pleased to organize a guided tour through Celle at your request.
