History:
The roots of the Family Müller go back to 1690 in nearby Schwangau. In the early 1800’s the family moved to Hohenschwangau, to the exact place where today is found the hotel. The Müllers were all farmers, and very important, they had horses and coaches. They did all sorts of things in the area of transportation; goods to the area; guests from/to the train station; they transported building materials to Bavaria’s King Ludwig II’s Castle Neuschwanstein. Last but not least, the Müllers brought passengers from and to Innsbruck, Austria, a very long journey in those days! The Müllers continued this part of the business until replaced by the offical Post busses in the beginning of 1900. In 1900 next to the Müller’s farmhouse was built a guesthouse, which was run only in the summer, mainly for visitors of the Royal household of Castle Hohenschwangau. At this time Hohenschwangau was the residence of the Bavarian ruler, Prince Regent Luitpold who had assumed the throne in 1886 on the mysterios death of his nephew, King Ludwig II of Bavaria. In 1909 the Müller Family decided to pull down the old farmer’s house to build a hotel. In 1910 the ‘Hotel Haus Müller’ was opened and run by the Müller Family, just as it is today. In 1983 the old guesthouse was torn down, the Hotel Müller was enlarged with a new wing adjusting perfectly to the old hotel’s style. Today the family owned and operated Hotel Müller Hohenschwangau presents itself as a hotel equipped with all modern facilities, a cozy atmosphere, friendly hospitality and proud of its tradition of service - since 1910.
