Description:
Welcome to the Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant. The atmosphere at the Alexandra warm, friendly and welcoming with thoughtful service to make you feel truly at home. This great place was built in 1735, for the Dowager Countess Poulett and later the home of the Duc du Stacpoole, the Alexandra became an hotel in 1901 and for over one hundred years has continued to uphold its tradition as a timeless haven of English peace and charm.
As befits an historic house, each one of our bedrooms is completely individual. Decorated with traditional English style, most rooms have breathtaking coastal and sea views. A television with radio, tea and coffee making facility, hairdryer and telephone with modem point are all standard features of each room.
We have family rooms and are happy to supply cots, highchairs, and baby listening. Our childrens menu consist of home cooked fresh local produce and is available at lunch and at childrens 6 o’clock high tea which may be served in the ‘Conservatory Restaurant’, garden or your room. Our large garden has a play area with climbing frame, swings, slide and trampoline whilst our direct access to Lyme’s safe beach makes us a great family destination.
We have special events. Throughout the year we run special food and wine evenings. Ian Grant our Executive Chef and Martin Platts of 'Just Fine Wines' bring together dishes and wines from around the world. These evenings are held in our 'Conservatory Restaurant' and guests enjoy the personal care and attention given by Martin as he describes the wines he has chosen for each dish.

We stayed in room 19 and enjoyed a wonderful view of Lyme Bay and the Cob. The room and en-suite are what I would term contemporary country house - all beautifully put together. Food was great too.
