Description:
Holly Ferns was originally a smithy's cottage, built in 1730 and belonged to Berrow Manor. Jenny's family the Wellands, have lived here since 1864. Her grandfather William added the Edwardian house to the cottage in 1922, and his wife Eliza, ran it as a guest house during the 20's and 30's. Between 1864 and 1947 her great Grandfather John and Grandfather William worked the village Blacksmiths, Cart builders and Farriers business, from this site.
Enjoy a comfortable bed, all the rooms are large and have iron and brass bedsteads. Tea and coffee facilities in all rooms. Colour TV. Easy access for the disabled. Holly-Ferns has a ground floor room with a walk in shower. The first floor rooms are accessible via a stair lift. There is ample parking and a wheelchair ramp.
Paul and Jenny have stayed in various bed and breakfasts and hotels on their travels, and are always looking for the best experience for their guests. Breakfast can be, what you want or need. Special diets are catered for with sufficient prior notice. Lunch or evening meals can be enjoyed at the Berrow Inn two doors away.
Berrow is a village set two miles outside the seaside town of Burnham on Sea. Although it has grown over years it still retains the flavour of the countryside. From Berrow you can travel with ease to Cheddar, Glastonbury, Wells, Weston super Mare, Wookey Hole and the famous Clarks village at Street.
The church of St Mary Magdalen at Berrow, nestling in the Sandunes, has exsisted on this site for almost a thousand years. Mentioned several times in the Domesday Book it offers several points of interest to visitors, who will be warmly welcomed to any of its services.
