This was my second visit to Harborside House. As with last year's visit, Susan Livingston made our stay in Marblehead wonderful in every way. I have now stayed in both rooms and absolultely loved all the grand surroundings. Each room you enter in this wonderful period home has more history than I have ever experienced, right down to the wallpaper, not to mention the seaglass in jars on the windowsills. Each morning breakfast was such a treat, fresh fruit and baked breads. The view from the front rooms overlooking the harbor is picture perfect. If your travels take you to the Boston area, this is truly one of the best places to stay. I can't say enough wonderful things about Susan Livingston. She's a charming and a delightful host. Her home is a haven for the weary traveler and we look forward to our next visit at Harborside House.

If you are going to Salem or anywhere north of Boston, you must experience the heavenly little harbor town of Marblehead. And to get the true flavor of the place, stay at Susan Livingston's Harborside House. Salem town is a loud and harsh tourist destination. But Marblehead--just 15 minutes east--is a sweet and gentle neighborhood of gorgeous New England cottages drenched in flowers. It's meant for walking and picture taking. Susan's Harborside House sits right in the middle of it all with a lovely view of sailboats in the harbor right across the street. Susan's house is truly her home. I arrived from Oklahoma along with my daughter in law Anne-Lena from Mainz, Germany. "Leni" was doing research for her master's degree on Salem Trials. Susan was so gracious to let us sneak in after midnight on the first night. The next morning she had the most magnificent breakfast for us, and wonderful conversation. I felt like I was eating in Hawthorne's dining room! Her home decor is 100% New Eng

We had found Harborside House on the internet and once contacting Susan Livingston, we decided that this was the place to stay. Boy were we right. We were in the area for our son's wedding and we could have not found a nicer bed and breakfast or a nicer person in Susan. Her hospitality was incredible. She was helpful in providing us with maps of places we should visit and restaurants that we should eat at. Harborside House was well kept. Being a historic home, we enjoyed its antique furniture and period wallpaper. We were able to walk to the many shops in the area. We would definitely recommend Harborside House for your next vacation. We will be staying there again on our next visit to the area.
