Pat and Joan Chapman welcome you to our imposing Grade II listed Victorian property. Designed by Henry Currey in 1871, it overlooks Broad Walk Promenade with commanding views across the Pavilion Gardens to the magnificent Opera House and Corbar Woods beyond.
We offer fully refurbished en-suite accommodation in a quiet, central location within two minutes walk of the Pavilion, Opera House, University, restaurants, pubs and town centre. We also offer stair lift access to the first floor and a few private parking spaces.
Buxton is situated in the heart of the Peak District with access to some of the finest historic houses, picturesque villages and walking in the Dales and Pennines
ACOMMODATION:
Our EIGHT bedrooms and bathrooms have all been recently refurbished and offer en-suite shower or bath, TV & video, an extensive range of beverages, hair dryer and ironing facilities and large library of classic films. We offer 6 double, 1/2 twin, 1 family and single occupancy rooms on two floors. A no smoking policy operates thoroughout the guest house.

LOCATION AND AROND US:
On the doorstep the Pavilion Gardens offer pleasant walks, the band on a Sunday and the miniature railway! The Pavilion and Octagon regularly host fairs, exhibitions, auctions and next door you will find the swimming pool. The Opera House is the centre of entertainment offering a full range of musical and non musical productions, and hosts the Buxton Opera and Gilbert and Sullivan festivals in the Summer.
In addition Buxton boasts the largest fringe theatre festival outside Edinburgh, the Four Four Time world wide music festival, the puppet festival, comedy club, acoustic music venues, exhibitions at the Museum and a traditional market. Architecturally the jewel in the crown is John Carr’s Crescent which will be reopened as the first Spa hotel in Britain.
Not to be missed are the magnificent Devonshire Campus of Derby University, Broad Walk, The Old Hall Hotel and St John’s church. Poole’s Cavern and Solomon’s temple are also a short walk from Grosvenor House.
The Peak District
Within easy reach of Buxton are found Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Lyme Park, Eyam, as well as stunning countryside in Edale, Dovedale, Monsal Dale, the Manifold Valley the Goyt Valley and Ladybower. The towns and villages of Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Tideswell, Ashford in the Water, Hope and Castleton are also close by. Alton Towers is 40 minutes away with Manchester and Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke, Sheffield, Chesterfield and Derby also within easy reach.

A train service operates from Stockport linking up with the intercity West Coast line. Extensive bus services operate throughout the Peak District and beyond.
