Description:
The CM Ranch is dude ranch with a fine reputation that has specialized in family vacations since 1927. The CM offers a variety of outdoor adventures, including horseback riding, fishing, hiking, pack trips, weekly rodeo, cookouts, and more. Located in a secluded valley in the Wind River Mountain Range, the ranch’s proximity to Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming make it an ideal destination ranch vacation.
The expansive ranch lands are contiguous with the Shoshone National Forest and Fitzpatrick Wilderness, which allow for almost endless private riding and fishing in country of great variety and beauty. The CM is not just a group of buildings set up for summer use, but a welcoming home, with atmosphere and charm.
Above the main ranch, in the canyon, are three attractive log houses which are also available as guest accommodations. The Greer House, has three bedrooms, two baths, a large living room with a fireplace, and a terrace with a lovely view. Baker House has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large living room with a river rock fireplace, and a cheery sun porch. Hardie House has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large combination living room with a wood stove, and a long front porch overlooking a secluded meadow. All the houses are very nicely furnished, and have complete kitchens with washers and dryers and electric heat.
The Dining Room cabins are located across the large, expansive lawn and tree-covered area that faces the dining room. The creek (Jakey’s Fork) flows in front of them, and the Dining Room cabins have lovely porches that face the stream. The Hill cabins are located on a small rise and have nice views from their porches. Garden and Studio cabins and Greer, Baker, and Hardie Houses are across the Jakey’s Fork Bridge.
Across Jakey's Fork there is a recreation building made up of a series of rooms for reading, writing, or playing cards and games. The two larger rooms have stone fireplaces, pianos and ping pong tables. There is a library with a large selection of books, and an interesting geological display relating to the history of the canyon.
All ages eat together in a large, attractive dining room furnished with Native American artifacts. Breakfast is cooked to order, featuring such items as homemade granola and fresh fruit, omelets, sourdough pancakes, and freshly baked breads. Lunch is always buffet and most people enjoy eating on the shaded porches surrounding the dining room. Dinner is usually served family style.
