Description:
The Cliffside Hotel stands on a hill facing the sea, with nothing in front of it except green grass, the marine drive below and the sea and sands. Its uninterrupted views overlooking the resort's North Bay are unrivalled in Scarborough. Many of its rooms are sea-facing and the views from the hotel windows of the majestic castle are outstanding.
Everything here is personally supervised for you by the resident proprietors, Paul and Wendy Sisson. Paul is a qualified chef, so you can be sure that the food is prepared and cooked to the highest possible standards. The whole atmosphere at Cliffside in fact, is cheerful, professional, warm and friendly.
The hotel lounge overlooks the sea, as does the cosy bar where you can order draught lager, cold beers, wine, cocktails and freshly-made sandwiches. Guests may come and go as they please, and children are made to feel especially welcome. Every bedroom has its own television and tea-making facilities - many also have panoramic sea views; and the hotel's beautiful dining-room is both intimate and comfortable.
This is the part of Scarborough favoured by many who know the town well. Unspoilt, sweeping sands, pleasure parks for children, the Sea Life Centre and indoor bowling. With South Bay, the old town and its shop-filled streets, fairground, restaurants, amusements, cinemas and theatres - just a few minutes walk away along the cliffs.
And for those who aren't familiar with the geography of North Yorkshire and the Heritage Coast, the moors close by Scarborough are a unique combination of wild Heather upland and gentle, rolling hills - ideal for walking or cycling. 1,000 protected square miles designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a region steeped in witchcraft containing probably the most scenic steam railway in the whole of England; and host to many strange customs and practices, including several of our greatest historical mysteries
