Description:
Situated 1½ miles from the Lochranza ferry, The Catacol Bay Hotel is a small, friendly, fully licensed hotel, nestling in the hills at the picturesque north end of Arran. Situated on the seashore, overlooking the Kilbrannan Sound and Kintyre.
The hotel is open all year, except Christmas Day, centrally heated throughout and all bedrooms have washhand basins, shaver points, continental quilts and tea & coffee making facilities. There is a residents lounge with colour TV , comfortable public bar, pool table, childrens play area, and a large car park.
Children and dogs are very welcome.
Arran is ideal countryside for walking, climbing and cycling. The energetic can enjoy horse riding, pony trekking, tennis, bowling, sea and river fishing, sailing, all kinds of watersports and no fewer than seven golf courses all around the Island.
If your taste is for sight-seeing, the sights are spectacular. For those with an artistic eye, the mountains, moorlands, villages and gardens are perfect subjects for camera or sketchbook. For natural history lovers there is a richness of flora and fauna. Red Deer abound and there are over one hundred species of birds, including golden eagles. Numerous flowers and plants grow wild and palm trees are to be found thriving outdoors in sub-tropical conditions all round the Island.
Arran is accessible by ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick, and in summer, by an additional ferry between Claonaig on the Mull of Kintyre and Lochranza. A train and bus service from Glasgow connects directly with the Arran ferry at Ardrossan.
