Description:
Built in 1851 as a coaching inn, our family run hotel stands at the market cross in the centre of this picturesque, typically Scottish conservation village. The traditional bar with log fires offer a friendly team of staff serving cask ale, fine wines and a variety of bar and restaurant
meals.
Close to Drumlanrig Castle (home of the Duke of Buccleuch) and
the River Nith, famous for its salmon fishing, the Buccleuch is an ideal haven for fishing, golfing, walking and all other country pursuits, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside.
The Hotel was built by the Duke of Buccleuch in 1851 to replace the original building which dates from 1714. It is now family owned and run and caters for anglers and shooters, and is an ideal centre to explore the beautiful area of Dumfries and Galloway. The Hotel offers a full restaurant service, and snack meals are available in the lounge bar.
Situated at the Cross with its ample parking facilities both front and back makes it a popular halt for the traveler all year round. The main lounge facilities and lounge bar service are available to guests wishing to mix with anglers and worthies of the village, who meet in the evening to enjoy our cask ale or a wee dram. We also have a beer garden/smoking area which is available for our smoking customers. Renowned for our delicious food, and fine wine, makes a stay at the Buccleuch an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
Our Well-appointed bedrooms have been tastefully renovated to the highest standards with central heating, en suite bathrooms, colour television, radio alarm and tea/coffee hospitality tray.
All our food is freshly prepared by our trained chefs using premium Scottish products, seasonally and locally produced. Our beef is from the renowned Buccleuch Estate. We also use corn fed cicken and free range eggs.
Our daily menu features a variety of quality food dishes, our chefs freshly prepare all our food using top quality local produce and locally farmed meat. Food is served in the lounge bar or in our dining room.
We pride ourselves on baking our own recipe bread daily in the kithcen; each week the flavouring changes as we find variety in food is always exciting. The chefs completly change the hotels menu every season thus utilising what is in season and keeping the chefs flair. Sweets & pastries are prepared on the premises keeping the tradition of everyting prepared on site which always comes through in the final tasting.
Our function room & carvery is fully eqipped to cater for parties, weddings & all celabrations. We have conferance facilities for up to 60 delagates
