Description:
Braelangwell is our elegant Georgian Country house built in 1790 and set in it’s own private estate and ancient woodland. Found on The Black Isle 12 miles north of Inverness. You are welcomed into our entrance hall with it’s original painted ceiling, by two life-sized Terracotta Warriors that we brought back from China. We are sympathetically restored the house to its former glory creating a comfortable and peaceful place to stay.
The Chinese Room, is an exquisite room with king-size bed and Chinese lacquer furniture, it has a private bathroom with a claw foot roll top bath. This looks out to the front of the house towards a bank filled with daffodils in the spring and rhododendrons in the summer. The Henrietta Room, a twin room (two single beds) has an en-suite bathroom with a “slipper bath” and separate shower. It’s brass beds are in keeping with it’s Victorian tiled fireplace. The Garden Room, with its king size four-poster bed, French furniture, tapestries and en-suite bathroom is named because of the view of the lawns and the walled gardens from its two “floor to ceiling” sash windows. It has a TV/video/DVD and you are welcome to choose any films from our collection.
Floor to ceiling windows and crystal chandelier in the Wedgewood Blue Ballroom, “dragons blood red” walls in the candlelit Dining Room and the Library, Upstairs Hall, Conservatory, and Billiard Room all offer you the chance to unwind in style and experience county house living. Our gardens and woodland are a haven for wildlife and birds, you will regularly see deer grazing the lawns (and sometimes Ronnie’s trees!) you even might catch sight of the osprey that feeds in nearby Udale Bay.
We are conveniently situated for day trips North to Dunrobin Castle, Dornoch, the Falls of Shin, Glenmorangie Distillery, West to the pretty villages of Beauly and Strathpeffer, lochs and ancient Scots pines of Glen Affric, South to Loch Ness, Inverness and Cawdor Castle, and East to Brodie Castle to mention just a few places. Please come and enjoy the peace and tranquillity, and the special ambiance of Braelangwell to be found in a beautiful part of the Highlands of Scotland.
