Description:
About us: Bishopgarth Guest house is a friendly, Victorian guesthouse run by resident proprietors Lou and James. We are ideally situated along a quiet residential street, just 300 metres from the city walls and only a ten-fifteen minute stroll to the centre of town. Consequently we are ideally situated for the theatre, restaurants, racecourse, station and all the other attractions this beautiful city has to offer.
We are proud to offer an excellent standard of hygiene and accommodation with a friendly informal atmosphere. Whilst we are keen to retain the traditional Victorian features around the house, we are continually undergoing improvements. As a result all the bedrooms have en-suite facilities and colour TV, with complimentary tea and coffee, razor points, central heating and radio alarm clocks. Hair dryers, iron and ironing board are also available on request.
Having achieved Three Stars with the English Tourist Board, the Bishopgarth is also a member the York Tourism Bureau. Due to such affiliations you can expect to receive a high quality of care, service and excellent standards of comfort.
Access to the rooms is available at all times; except after breakfast for cleaning purposes.
Parking permits are provided for on street parking.
We are delighted to be able to offer highly competitive prices; bed and full English breakfast is available from £25.00 per person per night up to £35.00 per person per night depending on season. We take all major credit cards and debit cards, We do not take American Express
We do not take one night booking on the weekend, or Stag and Hen nights

This review is a response to the comment below by L Rigg. As the guests in question were showing not signs of being ready to vacate their room, they were politely reminded that checkout was in 15 minutes time. Giving them some warning in advance seemed prudent at the time. As even guest house owners have families and personal lives, sometimes we also have other commitments, like nephews birthday parties. We try to make every ones stay at Bishopgarth as pleasant as possible, and we regret that Ms Rigg is offended at being asked to check out in time (which incidentally they did not).

We enjoyed our stay but felt it was marred on the last morning when at 9.45 (checkout was 10) there was a knock at our room door. My partner, on opening it was informed our host had a party to get to so would we leave. She was quite offended as this had never happened to us before.
