Description:
Barms Farm is situated in the heart of the beautiful Peak District only one mile north of the spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire. The location is ideal as it is convenient for town but with the added benefits of open views over the surrounding countryside and ample private off road illuminated parking. There are numerous attractions to visit in the area such as Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Castleton Blue John Caverns, Pooles Cavern, National Trust properties, Heights of Abraham at Matlock, Crich Tramway Museum, Red House working carriage museum and Buxton which is famous for its Opera House which hosts The International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival and the Buxton Festival each year.
The farmhouse has been owned by the Naden family since the 1930's and quality accommodation has been offered since 1990. The dairy herd was dispersed during 1998 and so the only animals at present are a small flock of sheep and three horses/ponies that the family ride.
Improvements have been continuous at Barms Farm, both inside and outside. The latest project being a large natural farm pond within the large garden plus adjacent seating and pergola which guests are very welcome to use.
The accommodation comprises of three very well equipped double rooms all with king size beds, en-suite facilities, hospitality tray, adjustable central heating, clock radio, remote colour TV, hairdryer, bath robe, thick large towels and toiletries. Two of the rooms have separate corner power shower cubicles as well as a bath. Attention to detail is apparent throughout and a great deal of thought has gone into the layout, the equipping of the rooms and the comfort of the accommodation. Traditional stonework, beams, fireplaces are all enhanced with home comforts and tasteful furnishings.
Our large, comfortable lounge with open views of the garden and pond on two sides offers relaxation after a busy day exploring the Peaks and Dales. Tourism literature, maps walks and videos are located in the lounge and a roaring log burner welcomes during the chillier months.
A choice of freshly cooked breakfasts are served at separate tables in the pleasant guest dining room. Locally sourced produce is served wherever possible.
A separate entrance gives guests freedom of access and privacy and our Five Star plus prestigious Silver Award 2007 assures you of the quality and cleanliness found at Barms Farm.
PLEASE NOTE that we rarely take single nights bookings for Saturday night only more than a couple of days in advance.
The Naden family look forward to meeting you but regret that Barms Farm does not cater for children. Guests are asked to respect our strict NO SMOKING policy within any part of the house. Sorry - no pets.
