Description:
Barkham is situated in the Exmoor National Park on the Devon & Somerset border. It is the home of Penny and John Adie and even with its peaceful secluded location is within easy reach of the North Devon Link road and only seven miles from the market town of South Molton.
The house, one of the first farmhouses to be built in the Old Royal Park on Exmooor, is a traditional farmhouse with an attractive courtyard. It is surrounded by the lovely Exmoor countryside and its own valley has a mixture of steep woodland and pasture with a small stream.
We like our visitors to make themselves at home and we have three bedrooms for guests. They are attractive and light with king sized double beds or a generous single. There is an oak panelled dining room and a large comfortable drawing room that faces West. Dinner is available by arrangement and we are happy to fit in with guests preferences whenever possible.
Our two barns have been converted into a gallery and three modern cottages named after the fields surrounding the house. All cottages are fully furnished with antiques, are attractive and peaceful and have superb views westward down the valley.
Riding is easily available and trout and salmon fishing can be arranged in season. For those who enjoy walking, we can advise on interesting and adventurous routes. We are 15 miles from the sea and there are plenty of National Trust houses in the area as well as a variety of theme parks.
