Description:
Bank house Farm offers high quality bed & breakfast accommodation; it sits overlooking the Lakeland hamlet of Matterdale End with panoramic views of Gowbarrow and the Ullswater Fells. This idyllic location offers guests the opportunity to spend time amongst the natural splendors of the North Lakeland Fells and enjoy peace and tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of modern living.

The farmhouse itself was built in the 1850's using local stone and slate, it has retained its traditional character, yet provides a warm, comfortable ambiance in which to relax. At Bank House Farm, guests are warmly welcomed into our home. Freshly made scones with homemade jam are offered on arrival and served in the snug, where a selection of books and magazines are available for you to use when planning your walks or just to enjoy.

We have 3 guest bedrooms, 2 double and 1 twin, all are en-suite have colour televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. Each of our rooms offers something different: one has a four-poster bed with glorious views of Little Mell Fell and the Pennines into the far distance. Our other double room has stunning views across the garden and Gowbarrow Fell. The twin room is available for those who prefer single beds; it has views towards Great Mell Fell and Matterdale Forest. All our rooms are tastefully furnished using both Laura Ashley or Dorma bedlinen and fabrics.

Our dining room boasts a stunning view of Little Mell Fell and a wood-burning stove to welcome you on even the coldest of mornings. Enjoy the views whilst sampling our Hearty Cumbrian or Vegeterian breakfast. For those who prefer something lighter croissants and homemade jams are always available along with freshly prepared fruit and cereals.

Our birdlife is abundant. Tree creepers, Nuthatch and Greater Spotted Woodpecker are regular visitors to the Garden as is the Sparrow hawk on the lookout for an easy meal. Spotted Flycatchers nest in the Virginia Creeper that surrounds the front door and you will likely see birds of prey riding thermals in the skies overhead.

If you're lucky you may see some of the wildlife that share this special place. We regularly see Hedgehogs, Badgers, Deer, Foxes and Red Squirrels and we have a well-stocked wildlife pond that attracts an overfed heron.
