Description:
Argyle House Bed and Breakfast, Tomintoul in the Scottish Highlands dates back to 1891. It is a stone built, cottage-style building of one and a half stories. It has double glazing and central heating. There are five comfortable guest bedrooms on the upper floor. The majority of them are en-suite, and they include family rooms accommodating up to four people. All bedrooms have TV and tea & coffee making equipment. On the ground floor there is a cosy breakfast room. Guests can choose from a full, cooked or lighter breakfast.

The village of Tomintoul is charmingly situated in the foot hills of Cairngorm Mountains, within the National Park It lies on the main route between Deeside and Speyside near the Lecht Pass and at 1160 feet it is the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland. It was founded in the Eighteenth Century by the Duke of Gordon to provide homes and employment (as weavers) for the local people. His motives where far from altruistic however. His aim was to prevent another uprising like the Jacobite rebellions of the 1715 and 1745.

Tomintoul is the ideal base from which to explore the region's beautiful countryside. There are signposted footpaths and cycle routes with breathtaking views of the meandering River Avon and Conglass Water and of the woodland and heather covered hills, all with the Cairngorms as a stunning backdrop. An amazing variety of wildlife can be encountered on even the gentlest stroll. Slightly further a field there are battlefields, ancient monuments, castles and picturesque towns and villages to be explored. The Moray coast, with its unspoilt fishing villages and deserted sandy beaches is only an hour's drive away. Hill-walkers and climbers will find the Cairngorms easily are accessible by car. The Lecht Ski Centre is a mere six miles away.
