Description:
Abercelyn Country House is an 18th century, Grade II-listed, former rectory set in award-winning, landscaped, mature gardens overlooking Bala Lake in the Snowdonia National Park, Wales.
The bright, spacious bedrooms are furnished with individual period pieces and all have en-suite luxury bathrooms (all have power-showers, one has a whirlpool bath). There is a relaxing drawing room with library and log fire for guest’s use. Excellent home-cooking (inc. special diets) with local produce and choice of breakfast, with freshly baked bread, free range eggs and home-made preserves.
Situated in a peaceful location, just a short stroll from the lake and close to the market town of Bala, which provides a choice of pubs, restaurants and shops. The local hills provide un-crowded walking in three mountain ranges and there are outstanding water-sports facilities, with sailing on Bala Lake and the National Whitewater Centre, nearby. Also locally available are indoor-swimming, tennis, riding, fishing and ten-pin bowling. There is a challenging golf course with lake views.
Self-catering is also available in three cottages, accommodating 3,4 and 6 persons. The cottages are of traditional construction with stone walls and beams and have been carefully modernised to retain their character. Finished and fully equipped to a high standard - facilities include full central heating, en-suite bathrooms with whirlpool baths, dishwasher, washing machine and patios with BBQ.
Guided walking and canoeing is available (by arrangement) and also a library of walking guidebooks. Other outdoor activities can be arranged, including whitewater rafting, sailing, climbing, mountain biking, 4x4 driving, etc. Private parking, locked storage for bicycles and drying room are provided.
